Kalamezhuthu

Kalamezhuthu is an old form drawing. Its mainly done as apart of Theeyyattu. It needs five metal powders, according to myth if the Kalamezhuthu is done in a proper way then there would be the presence of god. As the metal powder is very costly artists are using colored powder. In which each color represents each metal. The colors using in this form mainly created from the nature. Kalamezhuthu demands a great amount of ability and dedication. The artists who perform Kalamezhuthu must need a great amount of concentration and team work, because a drawing is done by a group of artists. In Vaikom temple (in Kottayam) a ritual called “Vadakupurathupattu” is performed in a period of 12 years, in which a special type Kalamezhuthu is performed, which is arguably the biggest drawing.
