Kolkkali is a type of dance mainly performed by farmers. Kolkkali is performed by a group of artist in the range of 10 to 20, every artist will have a small stick in their hand. A harmonious synchronization of the tapping of feet to the clapping of sticks sets the rhythm of this amazing dance. The artist form a circle around a “nilavilaku” (lamp) and the strike own sticks as well as the others sticks in harmony. They form various patterns during the dance and at the same time the circle which they formed expands and contracts.
