KOLLAM
is a city and a municipal corporation in Kollam district in the Indian state of Kerala. It lies 71 Kilometres north of the state capital Thiruvanathapuram (Trivandrum). It is also the headquarters of the Kollam District, one among the 14 districts in the state of Kerala. It is bound on the south by Thiruvananthapuram district, on the north by Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha, on the east by Tamil Nadu and on the west by the Arabian Sea. The town is very famous for cashew processing and coir manufacturing. It is the southern gateway to the backwaters of Kerala, and thus, a prominent tourist destination.
Kollam was formerly called "Desinganadu". During the rule of the Travancore kingdom in southern Kerala, Kollam was the focal point of trade. The start of the Malayalam era(ME) is associated with Kollam.It is believed that the era was started by Nestorian Christian merchants who settled in KorukeNi kollam, near to the present Kollam.

Anchal
is a town in the province of Kerala, India. The town is 8 kilometers from Aayoor, 19 kilometers from Kulathupuzha, 12 kilometers from Punalur, and 7 kilometers from Philgiry and Thottam Mukku. Anchal is renowned for its high number of hospitals and educational institutions.All most all regions having their own worship places at Anchal. There are many famous temples, Churches and mosks in and around Anchal. It was an important place in olden days, before the construction of hanging bridge at Punalur. The famous cattle market, Range office, 'Anchal' office (Postage) etc were very famous in old days.The present Anchal is having many schools, colleges, educational institutions and worshipping places. Anchal is well connected by road on all sides, Punalur, Kottarakkara, Ayoor, Kadakkal, Kulathupuzha, Channepetta etc.

Karunagappally
is a town in Kollam district,Kerala,India and is situated 27 km north of Kollam. Karunagappally is well connected to Kollam in the southside and to Kayamkulam in the northside through roads (the NH 47 passes through Karunagappally) and rails. The place has a population of about 410,000 people as per 2001 records.The place has beautiful back-waters, which connects it to Kollam and Alappuzha. Padanayarkulangara, which forms part of the town, was once the military station of the Kayamkulam Rajas. An idol of Buddha, recovered from a local tank here, has raised speculations that Karunagappally was once a centre of Buddhist teachings. It is now preserved in the Krishnapuram Palace, situated north of Oachira. The town has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, two old mosques and a Mar Thoma Church. The famous Amritapuri, the main Ashram of Mata Amritanandamayi is located in Vallickavu, Karunagappally,an international pilgrimage destination known for its educational and medical institutes, is a major landmark here. Amritapuri located at 110 km from capital of Kerala. By bus or train : Karunagappally (10 km south) and Kayamkulam (12 km north of Amritapuri) are the major cities to reach. By air and taxi: The two closest airports are in Trivandrum (110 km south of Amritapuri) and in Cochin (140 km north). The Oachira Temple, dedicated to Parabrahamam attracts a large number of pilgrims, particularly during the festival called Oachirakkali in June-July. The Panthranduvilakku Mahotsavam (November-December) of this temple is also very famous. The tourist Point of Alumkadavu in the Kollam-Alleppey National Water way is just 3 km from the centre. Sasthamkotta Lake is a freshwater lake spread over a huge area of 375 hectares situated close to Karunagappally. The highlight of this lake is that it neither gets frozen during the winter season nor does it dries up in the summers. Throughout the year, the freshwater of this lake provides clean drinking water for around 10 million people. Green Channel resort in Alumkadavu is another major tourist attraction. Sree Narayana Trophy Vallom Kali (Boat race) in Pallickal River (Kannetty river) takes place in Karunagappally every year.
Kulathupuzha
is a small town in Kollam district, Kerala state, India. This town is situated on the Thiruvananthapuram - Shenkottai road. Kulathupuzha is 60 km away from Thiruvananthapuram and 64 km away from Kollam.Kulathupuzha is well known for the Sastha temple.The presiding deity at the Kulathupuzha Temple is known as Ayyappa or Sastha who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Vishnu Mahotsavam in April/May is the most important festival of this temple.
Palaruvi Water Falls
Palaruvi means "Stream of Milk" is located 35 km from Punalur, Kollam District on the NH 207, Palaruvi is one of Kerala's most picturesque waterfalls, cascading from a height of 300 feet. It is a favourite picnic spot for visitors from all over south India. The journey to Palaruvi through the dense tropical forest is a spellbinding experience. You will even find fascinating "Toddy shop" or "Kallu shapp" with typical curries on your way from Punalur.
Punalur
Punalur is a city and a municipality in Kollam district in the southern state of Kerala, India. It is situated 45 km north-east of Kollam and 75 km north of Thiruvananthapuram. Punalur is the head quarters of Pathanapuram taluk. Punalur Railway Station is located on the Kollam-Shencotta railway line. The nearest airport is at Thiruvananthapuram. The Main Eastern Highway (Punalur-Pathanamthitta-Muvattupuzha Road / SH - 08 ) and Kollam - Shengottai Road (NH-220)connects the town to other major towns.
Thenmala
Thenmala is a tourist place near Punalur city, Kollam district in Kerala. The first eco tourism project in India is located at Thenmala. The Thenmala dam was built across Kallada River. Thenmala is famous for being the shooting location in Malayalam and Tamil movies.
Thenmala attracts foreign and domestic tourists with a host of attractions. Boating on the lake, a rope bridge, trekking, mountaineering, biking and a musical fountain. Thenmala is approachable both from Trivandrum and Punalur by road. The waterfall calledPalaruvi is a prime attraction nearby. Also nearby is a deer rehabilitation center where visitors can see deer in a forest setting and have a peep into a traditional tree house used by forest dwellers to escape harm from wild animals. Other places near Thenmala are Anchal, Punalur, Kamukumchery and Shenkottah. Themala is 72 km from Thiruvanathapuram and 16 km from Palaruvi Falls.
